I’ve got a lot of supplies for the Valentine’s do now. I am very excited for the party and the food and it all coming together. I’m planning on baking a cake for the do as well.
I’m making a list (and checking it twice) of everything I need to bring to setting up the Valentine’s party. From the big stuff like the box of decorations down to the tiny stuff I need to fix them together with. What food I’ll need, what practical emergency items I’ll need. I’m starting to get worried about the number of guests coming. I only know of 3 people coming. 15 people in total have responded either coming or interested, and even if all of them come then I’m only half way to my minimum capacity. On the other hand, if all those people come and bring someone (who I suspect a few might) then I’m already at the number of guests I need without being aware, so I’m cautious about inviting more people or pushing the advertising even further. If it were a bigger event with more guests to fit in and cater for then I would have put up fliers and physical invitations. I would make the event appear on every screen I could. It’s tricky.
Sorry I haven’t kept up to date for a while. I have set up the Facebook page for the Valentine’s party and sent out the invites for it. A few responses so far so that’s good, some of which have invited their friends so numbers are kind of up. Most people have just seen the invite though so I’ll have to boost it soon. I ordered decorations for the do as well and they have arrived, most of them are perfect and I’m very happy with the company I got the decorations from, they’re called Party Pieces they’re an online company from Reading. I will be buying from them again for sure.
So far then it seems that I’m booked in to going to The Monkey Suit in their VIP Lounge on Friday the 16th. Today’s goal is to make the page for the party and invite people. I think I might make the invitation on Word and then post that to the party page, that should be a more eye catching and practical way of showing all the information. I will buy the decorations soon, although depending on the shipping time from ‘Party Pieces’ I could leave the order until pay day, making the budgeting a little easier. Although the decorations are a very small part of the budget. I need to fill the room out with at least 30 people, and no more than 40. Each guest will receive a drink token from me (thanks to the flexibility of the staff at The Monkey Suit) and that’ll pay for their first drink. I have elected not to hire the photo booth as both the price and spacing for such equipment is not possible with the budget and floor space available in the VIP Lounge. I will however hire a friend of mine (who should be willing) to do some photography for me on the night and I can use those on my website. I could still set up my own area for photos. If I hang a hollowed-out cupid’s heart against a red and white (possibly pink) back drop, this could feel like a booth anyway but freeing up both space and how many people can take part at the same time. At some point, I will also look at the music I need. I should be able to just plug in my iPod to the sound system already there and play a playlist of romantic songs.
I got my feedback from QC Event School Unit A, I got an A! Very happy with the result and will be swiftly moving on to Unit B and such. I have an idea for the first portfolio party I throw and a handful of people already interested in attending and spreading the word. My thoughts are Valentines themed traffic light party with romantic themes and stuff. Upon arrival, everyone is handed a post it and a pen to write down their perfect first date and stick it under their name tag. This will act as a conversation starter for any singles looking to mingle. Also thinking of providing a ‘kissing booth photo booth’ to intrigue people in to meeting people and giving them a chance for romance. Red themed cocktails will be available and food set out as a buffet so people can eat what they want whenever they want.
So I’ve made an actual logo for Better Days now and it’s pretty awesome. The colour scheme in the logo will be what I use for the website now so it’s looking like a good aesthetic. I finished the executive summary for my business plan and handed it in to Task 7 for QC Event School. That was the last task of Unit A so now it’s handed in and I’m waiting for it to be marked. Finally one Unit done! If I get a good grade on it then I will start on Unit B. If not I’ll make some suggested changes and improve unit A before handing in B.
Hello there, so today has been interesting. Finally getting to grips with this Business Planning writing so soon I will be in an even stronger position to start giving some lovely people the memories they deserve. Struggling a little bit trying to make my website appear in my own font but I’ve found out that other people have posed this question and weebly are currently considering making it possible, hopefully it’ll be part of their next update.
Been thinking about what events I should put on so that I can make records for my portfolio. I need to show a wide range of what I can do so I think I should do a small corporate event, find a simple club or organisation that I can make a meeting for. A milestone event is a good idea because literally everyone has a milestone celebration and many enjoy making a large event in tribute of that milestone. I’m also thinking it would be useful to showcase a religious ceremony/ holiday as it’s a corner of event planning that not many event managers think of advertising, it should set me apart from the crowd. That’s 3 events already in the running. I haven’t even hit the Wedding market yet.
Lots to do!
I'm the founder of an Event Planning Business called Better Days. Here is where I write my process from step one to the present. This helps me keep track of all I do and when I do it. At the moment it's a personal tool, once I'm up and running I can use this blog to give advice and tell of y recent projects. Then it will be stream lined and professional and much more interesting for you lovely people. - Samantha Field
